Old Goa Archaeological Museum
This museum shows
the picture of goa during, before and after the British and Portuguese rule. It
exibits many of goa painting ,the weapons that were used during the colonial
rule.So also the essence of the Portuguese
rule has a great impact on the beautiful state of goa.
All the
items exibited in this museum takes the minds of not only the people of goa but
also the different people visiting this museum of that era of life during the Portuguese
rule.
Although goa
was also under the colonial rule (the British) but it has not affected the
state as much as the Portuguese rule.
Every picture
and very items in this museum narrates it own story when we look at it . Even
for the people of goa this museum is a great place of nostalgic essence.
And not only
the museum if we look around the museum it is surround by goa’s well known churches.
all these
churches where build during the Portuguese rule and by the Portuguese rulers.
It is a
wonderful place to visit to see old articrafts and paintings . Its is well displayed
and explained and interesting to see the various centuries old sculptures .There
are various stones, old weapons well worth a visit as the building itself is an
architectural wonder.
All the
paintings are displayed on the first floor, mainly of the most previous
colonial lords(rulers) of British and Portuguese who came to Goa.
The museum
also has a remarkable collections of stamps, religious articrafts and other
hidden gems. This is a perfect place to dig up the history of the goan culture
and style in the early ages.
There is
also a beautiful and well maintained garden outside. It is a wonderful place to visit to see old articrafts and paintings . Its is well displayed and explained and interesting to see the various centuries old sculptures .There are various stones, old weapons well worth a visit as the building itself is an architectural wonder.

and a shop selling various booklets from the Archaelogy department at a very
reasonable price. The entrance fee is also very less .It may fluctuate by not
more then ₹50 per head.
Important thing this is to remember that you can’t carry a camera and you are not allowed to click
any pictures inside the museum.
History
The archaeological
museum was established in 1964, NS recognised in 1982. It is situated in the
old capital city of old Goa. Old Goa was the capital city of Goa during the Portuguese
rule. Presently the capital city is Panjim.
